Release form
Baktisubtil is a solid white capsule, inside of which is a white powder with a gray or yellow tint. One pack includes 20 such capsules.
Composition
The main components of Bactisubtil are the beneficial bacteria Bacillus cereus, in particular, strain IP5832. In the manufacture of the drug, their spores are freeze-dried and added to each capsule in an amount of 35 mg. Additional components of the drug are kaolin (it contains 100 mg in one capsule) and calcium carbonate (each capsule includes it in an amount of 25 mg). The capsule shell is made from gelatin and titanium dioxide.
Operating principle
The anti-diarrheal effect is noted in microorganisms that are part of Baktusubtil. Such microbes produce antibacterial compounds, which have a very extensive range of effects. These substances inhibit the activity of both conditionally pathogenic and many harmful bacteria. Due to this antimicrobial effect, The medicine also stimulates the restoration of the normal state of the intestinal flora.
Note that inside the capsules contain spores, which are not affected by gastric juice. After entering the intestine, they quickly become vegetative forms and have an antimicrobial effect. In addition, the admission of such bacteria can be combined with treatment with antibiotics or sulfa drugs, because Baktusubtil is resistant to these drugs.
Indications
Most often, the drug is prescribed for dysbacteriosis or diarrhea caused by intestinal infection. This medication is needed for rotavirus infection, dysentery, salmonellosis, infection with pathogenic E. coli and other bacteria.
It is prescribed both in acute diarrhea and in the chronic form of diarrhea, caused by various causes, such as enterocolitis or colitis. Acceptance of Baktisubtila is also possible for the prevention of dysbacteriosis, for example, if a child takes antibiotics or is undergoing radio or chemotherapy.
How old can you use?
The instructions for use for children attached to the Bactisubtil preparation indicate that capsules are not recommended before the age of 7 years. This is due to the child’s ability to swallow this form of medicine. However, the medicine may be prescribed by a doctor and younger children, for example, at 2 years or at 4 years. For such small patients, the capsules are opened and the contents are combined with a small amount of cool or slightly warm liquid.
