Spray "Ingalipt" for children: instructions for use

Content

If a child has been diagnosed with a bacterial injury in the mouth or throat area, local remedies are most often used in the treatment. One of them is Ingalipt, which includes several active compounds acting on microbes and the inflammatory process. How does this medication carry the children's body when Ingalipt is prescribed to children and how to use it correctly?

Release form

Ingalipt is produced by several pharmaceutical companies, including Pharmstandard-Medical Industry, Binnopharm, Altaivitamins, Vips Med, and others. The drug is released in the form of an aerosol, which is used only locally. The volume of a single aluminum or glass bottle varies with different manufacturers and can be 15, 20, 25, 30 or 50 milliliters.

Inside the container there is a yellow transparent liquid, which may have both a light shade and a dark yellow color. It comes out of the tip in the form of a jet, which smells strongly of menthol and thymol.

Composition

Inhalipt is a multicomponent medicine. Its action is provided by the following ingredients:

  1. Sodium sulfanilamide, also called soluble streptocide.
  2. Sulfathiazole pentahydrate sodium.
  3. Peppermint oil.
  4. Oil from the leaves of eucalyptus.
  5. Thymol.

Sulfanilamide and sulfathiazole are presented in 30 ml of the drug with a dosage of 750 mg, and each of the oils and thymol are contained in such a volume of the drug 15 mg Among the auxiliary components of the aerosol, you can see glycerin, purified water, ethyl alcohol with a concentration of 95%, sucrose, nitrogen and polysorbate 80. Some manufacturers replace sucrose with saccharin sodium.

Operating principle

The main effect of Ingalipt is the antimicrobial effect, which is provided by the sulfonamides in its composition. They affect both gram-positive microorganisms and many gram-negative bacteria that cause diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx. Such components do not act on viruses, therefore no aerosol is prescribed for ARVI.

The presence of mint and eucalyptus oils in the medicine, as well as thymol, additionally affects the microbes and gives the drug antifungal activity, due to which Ingalipt is able to influence candida fungi. In addition, these ingredients have a slight analgesic effect and reduce the inflammatory process.

After spraying the drug in the mouth, its components are deposited on the mucous membrane. The result will be a reduction in pain, the neutralization of pathogenic bacteria and the cleaning of the oral cavity from purulent plaque. Inhalipt application helps to reduce the intensity of cough and quickly eliminate the symptoms of intoxication.

Indications

Inhalipt is prescribed for various diseases of the oropharynx. This local drug is in demand:

  • With tonsillitis.
  • With laryngitis.
  • With aphthous stomatitis.
  • With pharyngitis.
  • With ulcerative stomatitis.
  • With angina.

At what age is it allowed to take?

Since Ingalipt is available in aerosol form, it is not prescribed for children under 3 years old. Using a spray at an early age (for example, a one year old child) represents danger to karapuz and can provoke laryngism. For this reason, children under 1 year old and 1-3 years of age are prescribed other medicines that are not contraindicated for these age categories.

But even if the child is 3 years old, it is undesirable to use Ingalipt in his treatment without consulting a pediatrician. The doctor will examine the small patient and determine if it is possible to use an aerosol. The drug is discharged only if the baby does not resist the introduction of the nebulizer into the oral cavity and already knows how to hold your breath.

Contraindications

Inhalipt is not prescribed for children who are hypersensitive to streptocide, eucalyptus oil, thymol or any other aerosol ingredient. For adults, the drug is not recommended when carrying a child or breastfeeding.

Side effects

Inhalipt treatment causes discomfort in the mouth and throat in some children. Patients complain of soreness or burning sensation, but often these side effects are of short duration. In addition, in rare cases, an aerosol can provoke allergies, such as itchy skin or rashes. If this adverse reaction manifests itself after the first use of the drug, you need to cancel the drug and show the child to the pediatrician. The doctor will decide whether it is advisable to continue the treatment or whether it is better to replace Ingalipt with another medicine with a similar effect.

Instructions for use and dosage

  1. Remove the protective cap from the cartridge and install the spray nozzle attached to the bottle.
  2. Give the child boiled water so that the little patient can rinse the mouth before treatment with Ingalipt. If necessary, you can also clear the mucous from purulent plaque with a cotton swab.
  3. Insert the nebulizer into the baby’s mouth and, after asking the patient to hold their breath, press the nozzle for 1-2 seconds. Hold the bottle vertically.
  4. Tell the child to hold the medicine in the mouth for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Irrigate affected areas 3 or 4 times a day.
  6. To prevent the nozzle opening from blocking, after each treatment, blow the nozzle or hold it between treatments in a glass filled with clean water.
  7. The duration of treatment with Ingaliptom is usually 5-7 days.

Overdose

If a child accidentally swallows too much Ingalipt, it will cause nausea and may cause vomiting. Since the ingredients do not have a specific antidote, the doctor will prescribe a symptomatic supportive treatment to the little patient if they feel unwell due to an overdose.

Interaction with other drugs

The annotation to Ingalipt says that this medicine can be combined with many other medicines, including other local antimicrobial agents. This combination will be more effective for infections of the oropharynx, since the spectrum of action of drugs will increase.

Terms of sale

There are no difficulties with the purchase of Ingalipt in the pharmacy, because it is a non-prescription drug. The average price of a bottle containing 30 ml of the drug is 70-80 rubles.

Storage conditions and shelf life

Keeping Ingalipt at home is recommended at room temperature, preventing the drug from heating above +30 degrees. The storage location of the drug should be hidden from small children. Shelf life of the drug is 2 years. If the date marked on the package has expired, the use of aerosol in children is unacceptable.

Reviews

On the use of Ingalipt in children can meet different reviews. In some, the drug is praised for its effectiveness in sore throat or stomatitis, in others it is stated that the remedy did not help get rid of the disease of the oral cavity and had to purchase another medication. The advantages of Ingalipt include low cost, availability in pharmacies, a wide range of antimicrobial action and the presence in the composition of natural oils.

The drawbacks of the drug are the presence of alcohol in the medication and sometimes irritating effect on the mucous membrane. In addition, the taste of the drug does not like many children and adults, and the spray nozzle quickly clogged. In addition, in some children the use of an aerosol provokes a gag reflex.

Many mothers are also worried about the information that Ingalipt components are banned in many other countries, as they can have a negative effect on the kidneys and blood formation processes.

For this reason, quite a few doctors have refused the appointment of Ingalipt to young patients in favor of safer local antibacterial agents, the negative consequences of which are absent.

Analogs

Inhalipt-N can be used instead of Ingalipt. The difference of this drug is a slightly different composition - instead of sulfothiazole, it includes another sulfanilamide preparation (norsulfazole). All other components of the medicine are the same as those of Ingalipt. The medications also have indications, age limits, and possible side effects.

Other local preparations that have antiseptic properties can also be replaced by Ingalipt. The most popular of them are:

  • Hexoral. Such a drug based on hexatidine is produced in the form of a solution and spray. It is allowed to use in children older than 3 years. Instead, you can use other drugs that contain hexatidine - an aerosol or Stopangin solution (approved from 6 years), Stomatidin solution (used in children over 5 years old) or Maxicold Lor spray (appointed from 3 years).
  • Yoks. In this medicine, allantoin is added to povidone-iodine, which has pronounced antiseptic properties, due to which the drug has an anti-inflammatory and healing effect. The drug is used for irrigation of the oral cavity or pharynx in children 8 years and older.
  • Hexasprey. This drug contains biclotymol and is produced as an aerosol. It is prescribed to children from the age of six, treating the oral cavity in case of tonsillitis, stomatitis, pharyngitis and many other pathologies.
  • Miramistin. Such a popular antiseptic is produced in the form of a spray or solution. The drug can be used in children with pharyngitis or tonsillitis from 3 years of age.
  • Tantum Verde. This medicine contains benzydamine and comes in several forms. It is prescribed for stomatitis, cough for laryngitis, for gingivitis, sore throat and other diseases. Spray is used from the age of three, tablets - from 6 years old, solution - from 12 years of age. Its counterpart with the same active ingredient is Oralcept, allowed for children over 3 years old.
  • Kameton. As part of this medication combined eucalyptus oil, camphor and menthol. Local treatment of the oropharynx with this spray is allowed from the age of five.
  • Lugol. The basis of this antiseptic medicine in the form of a spray is iodine. Children are treated with this medicine from 5 years of age.
  • Anti-Angin Formula. The composition of this spray includes not only an antiseptic substance (chlorhexidine), but also an anesthetic component (tetracaine). It is used in children older than 10 years.

In addition, local preparations in the form of lozenges, such as the drug Lizobact on the basis of lysozyme (appointed from 3 years) containing biclotymol tablets Hexalysis (written out from 6 years old) or Eucalyptus-M lozenges acting on the mucous membrane due to menthol and eucalyptus oil (used from 8 years of age).

At the same time, parents should be understood - although most of these drugs have indications for use and coincide with Ingalipt, giving an analogue without consulting a doctor is risky, because they have a completely different composition, and contraindications may differ.

Ingalipt Vialayn

The range of pharmacies in addition to Ingalipt includes the drug with a similar name - Ingalipt Vialayn. It is produced in Armenia in the form of a spray and contains 45ml of liquid with antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects in one bottle. This therapeutic effect of the drug is due to its ingredients, which are represented by eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, glycerin, purified water and chlorhexidine digluconate.

The drug has a bactericidal effect on many microorganisms and fungi. It also strengthens the local immunity and helps with sore throat. The tool is recommended not only for treatment, but also to prevent the appearance of diseases of the oral cavity. However, the abstract to Ingalipt Vialayn notes that this spray is not used in childhood. For this reason, Ingalipt based on sulfonamides should not be replaced with this medicine.
