Pimples on the gums of a child
Changes in the gums of the child do not go unnoticed by the parents, because in most cases they are worried about the baby, hurt or itch. Quite often in the mouth of a karapuz there are pimples that can appear both in infants and older. What provokes their occurrence, is it dangerous and how do such problems with children’s gums treat?
The reasons
The appearance of acne on the gums can be a symptom of various problems, among which the most common:
- Herpes stomatitis. This disease caused by the herpes virus affects the oral mucosa with a blistering rash. Pimples with it at first transparent, then become turbid and burst.
- Purulent inflammation caused by untreated or poorly treated caries. It is manifested by the formation of a white-yellow pimple above the tooth, which is a cyst filled with pus. If it is opened independently, a fistula is formed on the child’s gum.
- Wen. They are represented by benign non-hazardous formations, which are removed only in case of an increase in their size or a change in appearance.
If you suspect your child has herpes stomatitis, we recommend that you watch the following video. It tells in detail about stomatitis and its symptoms.
What to do
If one or more pimples appear on the child's gums, you should take the baby to the pediatric dentist. After the examination and additional examinations (if necessary), the doctor will determine the cause of the changes in the oral mucosa and prescribe a treatment that will help the child get rid of the rash on the gums.
For example, in case of herpes stomatitis, the baby will be prescribed antiviral drugs, rinses and anti-inflammatory treatment. If a pimple is a cyst, it is opened, after which the tooth affected by caries is removed (if it is milky) or treated (if the tooth is already permanent).
How to prevent
Preventive measures to protect the child from acne on the gums are:
- Regular visits to the dentist.
- Thorough proper cleaning of the mouth.
- Personal hygiene and limited contact with patients with herpes.
- Heat treatment of food.
- Timely treatment of diseases of the teeth and gums.
- Balanced nutrition to get the nutrients needed for gum development.
