Children's single bed
Children's single bed - almost guaranteed to purchase for each family in which there is at least one child. This type of furniture seems quite simple, but it is this apparent simplicity that somewhat complicates the choice.
Advantages and disadvantages
This product is so natural in the children's room that it is rather difficult to isolate any specific advantages - they are chosen as compared to something, whereas the single bed is almost without alternative. However, it is the children's version that still has a couple of obvious advantages. Firstly, psychologists believe that the size of any person’s bed should approximately correspond to its parameters, which means that it’s not too comfortable for the child to sleep on a full-fledged adult bed. Secondly, since the furniture is designed specifically for children, it is often designers make it in a fabulous styleBy turning into a kind of big toy.
The disadvantages of a single children's bed are situational, the only permanent one is that the child will eventually outgrow the size of the bed, but this is not so critical, because the product can always be resold. Among other drawbacks, it is worth noting that it is impractical in conditions of very limited space, because this is not the most compact of the possible options, and if there are several children, it is better to pay attention to models that provide two beds in one case.
Kinds
A single children's bed can be so diverse that you can count at least five types of such furniture. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages:
- Classic crib with four legs, as an option - in an unusual design. It does not perform any functions other than providing a bed, but fits in very harmoniously with rooms where space is not so limited.
- Bed with retractable drawers. If there is not much space in the nursery, you can combine a bed and a bedside table in one case. This is very practical, however, boxes that are built into the case raise the bed high enough, which complicates the child’s access and leaves the risk of falling from a rather large height - either do not let very young children sleep there or choose models with handrails.
- Bed with lifting mechanism. In principle, the same as the previous version, but instead of several small boxes we will have one big one - in the size of the case. You can open it by raising the bed.
- Loft bed. Here, manufacturers went even further and combined a sleeping place not with a bedside table, but with a whole closet! In fact, you will have to sleep right on its roof, but the space savings are just awesome.
- Bed-podium. This option is good in a room with a really high ceiling. Above the bed is a flooring on which you can equip a full-fledged work or play area.
Dimensions
Since this is a special children's bed, it should be selected in such a way that in its dimensions it approximately corresponds to the height of the child. It should be borne in mind that it is constantly and fairly rapidly growing.therefore, when choosing, you need to think in advance about how old you are not planning to change the bed - it is from those expected at that age, and not the current ones, that you need to push off.
If we talk about the length of the bed, then it should be 15-20 centimeters higher than the height of its owner.Width for children from 3 years is recommended in the region of 80 centimeters, for teenagers - 90-100 centimeters; such a relatively small difference is due to the fact that babies, on average, spin more in their sleep, while older children sleep well.
Height for kids is limited to half a meter, otherwise getting to the top for them will be problematic.
Materials
The choice of material for a children's bed is carried out according to the same principles as for adults, only here more attention is paid to the issues of environmental cleanliness and hypoallergenicity of the product. The absolute leader in all respects is array natural wood - in the first place, oak and beech, as well as a number of other, softer species. These materials are completely safe for the child, as well as very strong and durable, so that they can withstand any childish pranks. The only negative is the rather high cost of wooden furniture.
MDF wood boards can be a worthy alternative, they also do not pose any threat to a person and are distinguished by quite good strength indicators, while at the same time they are much cheaper. For other materials, experts recommend skeptics. The metal is durable and environmentally safe, but it is always cold and has a high risk of injury.
As for plastic and especially chipboard, they are not recommended to choose at all - low cost should not attract the consumer, because it is caused by the low quality of the product and the high probability of toxic fumes.
Colors
Modern manufacturers produce beds of various colors, however, furniture of wood origin often leaves a natural color, or it is painted in another similar tone - this is a universal solution that goes well with almost any interior. The white bed has a similar compatibility.
Any color options are no longer considered neutral and suggest a certain compatibility with the interior. There are no special restrictions for ladies' beds, but preference is given to delicate shades - first of all, pastel, pink and purple. Bed for a boy It can be of almost any color other than pink, but a sharper tone is usually chosen.
If the product is painted in a rather bright color, it is desirable that the baby does not see this while lying in bed, because excessive brightness excites him and prevents him from falling asleep normally.
How to choose for children?
To make the choice of baby bed optimal, follow a few simple and logical advice:
- The main criterion for choosing a bed is the comfort of resting on it.. It represents, first of all, a sleeping place, and if the product copes poorly with this function, then no other advantages, be they additional storage boxes or an excellent design, can serve as an excuse for such a choice.
- If the room is pretty crowded, choose a model that will replace other furniture (cabinet, cabinet) and really save space. At the same time, if there is enough space, you should not choose a bed with functions that will not be used - most likely, this will somewhat reduce the comfort of rest.
- Last but not least is design.but it should not be ignored either. The bed should be an interesting design decision in itself, and at the same time fit well into the bedroom interior. However, do not forget that you do not buy it yourself, so if the child is already big enough, it makes sense to ask his opinion. You can offer him a choice of not all possible models, but only those that you have already managed to select in advance.
We select the mattress
The choice of a mattress is no less important than the choice of a bed. First of all, it is very important that the size of the mattress and bed matched as precisely as possible - this ensures stability and convenience.
Mattresses are also distinguished by the degree of rigidity. In childhood, the musculoskeletal system of a person has not yet been formed, the spine is quite elastic, therefore an inappropriate basis for sleep is fraught with the appearance of various disorders like scoliosis. Most often for children choose orthopedic mattresses of medium hardness, high rigidity is also appropriate, but this is an amateur, although experts believe that this solution provides a more sound sleep.
As for the soft mattresses, they are completely unacceptable for young children, because they do not support their backs during sleep and contribute to the occurrence of disorders.
Beautiful bedroom interiors
In the first example, we see an ordinary, unremarkable children's single bed that will suit both the boy and the girl, and the design is no different from an ordinary adult bed. This is a universal solution that does not require additional functions, but it is appropriate in any situation.
The second photo shows a model offering a much wider range of functions, really from a simple bed. The creators equipped it with drawers for storage of things built into the body, but even that was not enough for them, so they combined the bed with a small wardrobe. It looks quite stylish, even a little aristocratic, for the youngest children this may seem boring, but it is suitable for both teenagers and adults of small stature.
The third bed demonstrates how a typical child model can differ from an adult. This is obviously women's furniture - this is indicated by both the pink color and the hearts, however, an adult woman will not choose this; This box is for a little princess. A good example of how even a cold metal can create comfort.
