Breast Milk Storage Bags

If a nursing mother needs to freeze or keep breast milk in the refrigerator for a while, you can use special disposable bags. What are their advantages and how to use them?

• Milk collecting is very easy. Squeezing them allows you to collect everything to a drop.
• They are smaller than containers, so they will take up less space in the freezer.
• They have marks on which you can find the volume.
• Thanks to the double walls, as well as a strong fastener, they will reliably preserve food for the baby for a long time.
• Since they are sterile, they are an excellent choice of storage container.
• For their manufacture apply proven material that may be in contact with food.
• They have stickers so that mom can indicate the date of decanting.
• Milk is easy to defrost by placing the bag in a container with hot water.

There is only one drawback - the impossibility of reuse. If mom regularly drains and constantly replenishes supplies, it is more convenient for her to choose a container in which you can freeze milk more than once.

When using disposable bags, it is important to know how long they can be stored:

• If you put them in the freezer compartment of the refrigerator, you can store them there for up to three or four months.
• If milk bags are placed in a separate freezer with a temperature of -19 degrees, they can be stored for half a year.
• In the refrigerator (but not on the door, but inside) it can be stored for up to 48 hours. In order not to miss the shelf life, each of them must be marked with the date of decanting.

To fill the bag with milk, you need:

1. Remove the protective seal.
2. Placing your fingers over the clasp, gently push the walls of the package.
3. Pour the milk into the bag without filling it completely. It is recommended to fill it up to the level of 180 ml or leave at the top of the space for 1-2 fingers, since the liquid will expand when frozen.
4. Carefully remove excess air from the bag. To do this, gently press on the top.
5. Close hermetic clasp.
6. Write the date of decanting on the label intended for this purpose.

To pour milk from the bag, you must first tear off the sticker with the inscription, then place your fingers over the clasp and push the walls apart, then pour out the milk while holding the bag by the clasp.

And a few more tips noted in the instructions for them:

• Before use, they should be kept in a place where children will not have access.
• Before you give milk, be sure to check its temperature.
• To prevent the milk from overheating in it, you should not use a microwave oven, bottle warmer or boiling water to defrost it.
• Remember that they are used only for one-time storage.
• Before filling the bag with milk or pouring it out of it, wash your hands thoroughly.
• The volume may not match the mark on the package.
• To defrost before feeding the package should be immersed in heated water.
• Thawed milk cannot be placed in the freezer again, nor can it be added to freshly frozen to the freezer.
