Dolphin for children: instructions for use

The device called “Dolphin” is in demand in the practice of ENT doctors and is often recommended for patients of all age groups both for the treatment of inflammatory processes in the nasopharynx and for their prevention. The manufacturer offers a whole line of products that includes products for children, for allergy sufferers and for adults.

Dolphin was created more than 15 years ago and is a patented device designed for washing the nasal cavity. It includes a bottle with a therapeutic solution, inside of which is a tube with a special nozzle attached to the cap. Since the bottle itself is soft and the nozzle is able to compensate for the excess pressure, it is possible to influence the supply of the solution, so that you can create the most comfortable washing procedure for a particular patient.

In the set “Dolphin”, which is assigned to children, there is an empty bottle with a capacity of 120 ml and 30 bags containing one gram of powder. Before use the portion from one bag gets divorced in a bottle with boiled water. Additionally, you can purchase another 30 bags of powder, which are sold without a bottle.

The main differences of the complex for adults are the capacity of the bottle (it holds 240 ml of liquid) and the amount of powder in the bags (2 grams each). In addition to the standard packaging with one bottle and 30 bags, the manufacturer also offers an economy version (there are only 10 bags) and an additional set of powder for breeding (a box with 30 bags).

Dolphin is especially produced for allergies, which is analogous to Dolphin for adults, since its bottle capacity is also 240 ml, and in one bag contains 2 g of powder. This tool differs only in composition, so it can be used in allergy sufferers. In order not to confuse it with the usual "Dolphin", the manufacturer placed this drug in the green packaging.

The main component of Dolphin solution is rock salt containing sodium, magnesium, sulfate, calcium, chloride, and other important elements. In addition, the drug contains active substances that are obtained from wild rose berries and licorice root.

In addition to the dry extracts of these plants, the powder also includes baking soda, potassium chloride, and iodized edible salt. In the "Dolphin" with allergies plant extracts are absent. The composition of this drug option contains only ocean salt crystals, supplemented with baking soda.

• Rock salt in the composition of "Dolphin", which is also called halite, has an antiseptic effect.
• The substances from the hips have the ability to strengthen the capillaries in the nose, as well as to stimulate the healing of the mucous membrane.
• Active compounds derived from licorice, have anti-inflammatory, antiviral and anti-allergic properties. They also stimulate local immunity.

Dolphin can be used:

• for cleaning the nasal cavity from contamination;
• for the treatment of acute or chronic infectious rhinitis;
• for the treatment of atrophic forms of rhinitis;
• for the prevention of SARS and influenza;
• for the treatment of adenoiditis;
• for the treatment of sinusitis, sinusitis or other type of sinusitis;
• to facilitate the occurrence of allergic rhinitis;
• to prepare the nasal cavity for surgery or any medical manipulation.

The use of "Dolphin for children" is possible in patients older than 4 years.

“Dolphin for adults” because of the higher dosage is used only in children over 14 years old, as well as the device shown for allergies (in a green box).

Washing with Dolphin is prohibited in such cases:

• if the child has acute otitis media or chronic inflammation of the ears has worsened;
• if the baby has hypersensitivity to any component of the solution;
• if tumors are found in the patient's nasal cavity;
• with adenoids grade 3 or more;
• with complete obstruction of the nasal passages;
• with frequent bleeding from the vessels of the nose.

After dissolving Dolphin powder in water, a solution is formed which, by its mineral composition, resembles blood plasma, therefore it is safe for the mucous membrane and does not cause any unpleasant sensations, such as tingling, burning or pinching. An allergic reaction to the drug is possible, but it is very rare.

Before using the device for the first time, open the bottle and wash all its parts with soda solution or soapy water, then rinse and dry. Such actions are recommended after a long break in the use of Dolphin. Also note that one bottle should be used by one person.

To make a solution for washing, you need to take warm water (it is brought to a boil, and then cooled to + 34 + 36 degrees) in a volume of 120 ml. Pouring it into the vial, open one bag of powder and pour the contents into the liquid. After tightening the lid, the bottle should be shaken so that the product is completely dissolved, after which you can start washing.

The child should carry out the procedure independently, with which the age limit is related. Before rinsing, the little patient needs to be explained why and how to do it correctly. Method of use "Dolphin" is described in detail in the instructions that are attached to the device.

It provides for such actions:

• during manipulation, the child must lean over the sink, attach the lid of the vial to one of the nostrils, inhale and hold the breath;
• then he should lightly press on the walls of the container so that the solution evenly filled the nasal passage and went out through the second nostril;
• without opening the bottle walls, you need to remove the device and start breathing through your mouth;
• after that, the child needs to blow his nose and do similar actions for the second half of the nose;
• alternate washing of the nasal passages is carried out until the entire solution from the vial is used up;
• finally, the mucus and excess of the preparation should be removed from the nasal cavity by applying a bottle squeezed with the fingers in each nostril and then opened with the fingers.

Sometimes ENT doctors prescribe to “Dolfin” gargle. In such cases, having prepared a medical solution from a bag, it is used to rinse three times or four times a day.

Exceeding the dose of the solution is impossible, because in one bag there is a powder intended for one washing.At the same time, the manufacturer recommends avoiding getting the product in the mouth and swallowing it.

It is very easy to purchase Dolphin at the pharmacy, as a prescription for its purchase is not required. The average price of one set for children is 370-420 rubles.

Flushing bottle can be used for a long time. The manufacturer gives him a guarantee of 24 months from the day of purchase and claims that such a product serves an average of 2 years. The shelf life of the powder in sealed bags is also 2 years.

It is not recommended to store the prepared solution - the agent should be used for the procedure immediately after the powder is dissolved in water.

The use of Dolphin in childhood responds mostly positively and parents, and doctors. The device is called easy to use and safe, confirming its effectiveness in the common cold, sinusitis, acute respiratory infections and other diseases.

Its disadvantages include only the high cost and high risk of otitis.

As a replacement for "Dolphin" can be used such means for washing the nose:

• «Aqua Maris». The basis of this drug is sea water, which can cleanse and moisturize the nose, as well as help treat rhinitis and adenoids. The smallest children are shown “Aqua Maris” in drops, because it can be used from birth, and spray is prescribed for patients older than one year. From the age of three, it is possible to use the Aqua Maris Watering Can, with which salt bags are sold. The diluted solution, like Dolphin, is used to flush the nasal passages.
• «Aqualore». The line of drugs with this name includes several drugs, but it is recommended to flush the nose only with spray products. One of them is the isotonic solution “Aqualor norms”, which can be used even in an infant over 6 months old. With nasal congestion and inflammation, washing is performed with a hypertonic agent with the addition of chamomile and aloe extracts “Aqualor extra forte”, prescribed from 2 years of age.
• "Sialor aqua". Such medicine is produced in plastic bufus containing 5 ml of sea water, supplemented with the same volume of ordinary water. The drug is in demand for rhinitis, and is also often used for its prevention in children of any age, even in newborns and infants.
