Nootropil for children
To improve the brain activity of the child, he may be prescribed a drug called Nootropil. If he was prescribed to the baby, the mother is always interested in how this medicine affects the brain's work, whether it is possible to give this drug to the children and how to take Nootropil in childhood.
Release form
Nootropil is made in several forms:
- In capsules. One pack contains 60 white capsules, each of which has 400 mg of active ingredient.
- In pills. They are oval tablets in white casing, produced in two dosages - 1200 mg (in a package of 20 pieces) and 800 mg (in a package of 30 pieces).

- In bottles. This form of release is also represented by a 20% solution, but in a larger capacity, because one bottle contains 15 ml of clear liquid (in one bottle 3 g of the active substance). One carton pack includes four bottles of Nootropil.
Composition
The active substance in Nootropil is represented by piracetam. AT the contents of the capsules are supplemented with lactose, magnesium stearate and colloidal silicon dioxide, as well as with the synthetic additive macrogol 6000. The capsules themselves are made from purified water, gelatin and titanium dioxide.
In piracetam tablets, silica and magnesium stearate is supplemented not only with macrogol 6000 and macrogol 400 supplements, but also with titanium dioxide, HPMC stabilizer and sodium crosscarmelose.
In the solution intended for injection, in addition to pyracetam, there is purified water, acetate and sodium chloride, as well as acetic acid. Operating principle
This drug is referred to as nootropics. Its active ingredient is a derivative of gamma-aminobutyric acid (Russian abbreviation GABA, and foreign - GABA), therefore, it is able to improve brain function. Piracetam It has a positive effect on attention, learning and memory. Acceptance of this tool helps to improve the mental performance of the child, and is also effective for the speech of the child during delayed speech development (RDD).
The effect of the drug is due to several mechanisms:
- Piracetam has the ability to improve the metabolic processes in neurons.
- The drug affects the processes of excitation in the brain, changing their speed.
- Since the agent suppresses the aggregation properties of the blood platelets and prevents adhesion of red blood cells, this improves the rheology of the blood, making the circulation in the brain's vessels better. At the same time, the vessels themselves do not expand.
If the child had hypoxia or intoxication, which affected the brain, the use of Nootropil will protect the brain tissue and accelerate the recovery of CNS functions. Under the influence of piracetam, the vestibular nystagmus in a child will be less long and unexpressed.
On how to improve the memory of the child, see the transfer of Dr. Komarovsky.

Why the baby may be allergic to nootropil and other medications and what to do in this case? The answer to this question is in this useful video:
Instructions for use and dosage
The medication is given with food or before meals, washing down the capsules, syrup or tablets with water or juice. If the drug cannot be taken by mouth, the doctor prescribes an injection. Instructions for use of the drug specifies that the duration of therapy with Nootropil is at least three weeks. If after 21 days from the start of treatment no positive changes appear or the condition worsens, the drug is canceled.
The dosage for the child with psychoorganic syndrome (reduced intelligence and memory problems) will be 4.8 grams of Nootropil in the first week (this is the daily dose, which is divided into 2-4 doses), and then the daily dose is reduced to 1.2-2.4 gram. If the child had a brain injury or neuroinfection, the medicine is prescribed at a dose of 2.4 grams per day.
If Nootropil is prescribed for dizziness and balance problems, the dosage of the drug will be from 2.4 to 4.8 grams per day. Dosage for school age in order to improve learning, for example, at 9 years of age or at 10 years, is 3.3 grams per day. The drug is given during the school year.
Overdose
If you exceed the dose of the drug in 75 grams (talking about the solution, which is taken orally), there are symptoms caused by excessive use of sorbitol. They are represented by abdominal pains and diarrhea mixed with blood. The treatment will be gastric lavage with stimulation of vomiting, as well as hemodialysis.
Interaction with other drugs
If you use Nootropil and at the same time give your child tetra- or triiodothyronine, the result may be sleep problems and increased irritability. The use of Nootropil has virtually no effect on other drugs, because about 90% of piracetam leaves the child's body unchanged.

According to parents, this is a good general tonic drug, thanks to which the brain is stimulated. After taking it, children are less tired, they talk better with FRA, they memorize learning material faster.
Side effects from this medication are very rare, as confirmed by the reviews of doctors. Specialists often prescribe this drug as part of the complex treatment of various problems of brain function and in most cases note its positive effect.
Analogs
Nootropil can be replaced with other medicines with the same active ingredient. The most common ones are:
- Piracetam. Such a preparation has been manufactured for a very long time, it has the same indications for use, but is distinguished by less quality cleaning, which is why it often provokes side effects. It is produced in tablets, powder in sachets (suspension is prepared from it), capsules, solution for injections.
- Lucetam. Since it is not available in syrup, but only in pills and solution for injection, the use of this medication in preschool age is difficult.
