Ursosan for children: instructions for use
Often, after birth, the baby’s skin acquires a yellow color of varying intensity. The parent does not need to be afraid; this physiological state is explained by the adaptation of the child’s body to new conditions. But if the jaundice has dragged on, you need to consult with your doctor and start giving the baby a safe drug, Ursosan.
Release form
"Ursosan" is available only in capsules. Such forms of release as tablets, syrup and suspension do not exist. Cream colored capsules contain powder. They are packaged in blisters of 10 pieces. In a pack there can be 10, 50 or 100 capsules.
Composition
Each capsule contains the main component - ursodeoxycholic acid, as well as auxiliary - starch, gelatin for the capsule shell, titanium dioxide - food coloring.
Ursodeoxycholic acid is produced in the human body and some animals, such as bears. This substance has hepatoprotective functions, as well as enhances its own immunity. For a person is completely biocompatible.
Operating principle
Acid has a choleretic effect, can dissolve stones that are formed in the gallbladder, regulates the level of cholesterol and other fats in the liver, has an immunomodulatory effect.
Indications
Reception "Ursosana" is prescribed to patients with various types of hepatitis, with cholelithiasis, liver cirrhosis, cystic fibrosis. The high bio-safety and availability of the baby drug makes it indispensable for the treatment of infant zheltushka in newborns.
The physiological jaundice of newborns usually occurs in 70% of babies. This condition is associated with the adaptation of the newborn to new conditions. The yellow one is related to the fact that bilirubin accumulates in the child’s blood, and because of the nature of the infant’s metabolism, this substance is eliminated slowly.
Usually, the yellow one lasts no longer than 1 month and goes away on its own, but if the condition is delayed, special preparations are prescribed, for example, “Ursosan” and other methods of treatment - special photo lamps or sunbathing in the warm season.
From what age is prescribed?
Instructions for use from the manufacturer indicate that "Ursosan" is prescribed to children from 2 years. This is due to the fact that younger children find it difficult to swallow a capsule. However, in the practice of treating infant zheltka, Ursosan is a very widely used drug. Ursodeoxycholic acid in itself has no age limit to use.
Contraindications
Do not use "Ursosan" with a non-functioning gallbladder, liver failure, some diseases of the liver and gallbladder.
Side effects
In rare cases, taking the drug can lead to reactions from the gastrointestinal tract - vomiting, diarrhea, allergic reactions.
Application
Children older than 2 years, the doctor calculates the dose individually based on the child's body weight. On average, children can get 10-20 mg of acid per kg of weight per day. Take the medicine capsule with plenty of water. The duration of treatment depends on the disease and its severity. For example, with cystic fibrosis, the duration of treatment can be up to 6 months.
With infant jaundice for newborns, the contents of one capsule are divided into 4 or 5 parts, each portion is diluted in water or added to breast milk and given to a child.Usually "Ursosan" give when feeding.
The exact dosage and time of admission can be prescribed only by the attending physician, based on data from a blood test for bilirubin.
Overdose
Cases of overdose of ursodeoxycholic acid are unknown. But if the parents suspect that unpleasant symptoms (vomiting, diarrhea, skin allergies) are associated with taking the medication, you should seek medical help. If the child is small or a baby - for emergency help.
Interaction with other drugs
Often, along with Ursosan, the doctor prescribes absorbent drugs, for example, "EnterosgelOr "Smektu". But they should not be taken at the same time.because these drugs reduce the absorption of ursodeoxycholic acid, and, consequently, the effectiveness of treatment.
Also in older children do not need to combine the reception "Ursosana" and lipid-lowering drugs, it reduces the ability of the acid to dissolve gallstones.
