Picamilon is one of the drugs that can stimulate brain function and increase the resistance of the central nervous system to different loads. Release form

Picamilon is presented in pharmacies in two forms:

  • Pills. They are placed in plastic bottles or glass jars in the amount of 30, 60 or 100 pieces. They have a white color (maybe a cream shade) and a round shape.
  • Solution intended for intramuscular or intravenous injections. It is poured into 2 ml ampoules and sold in boxes of 5, 10 or 20 ampoules. The contents of the ampoule is a clear liquid, barely colored or without color. There are no suspensions in it.

Composition

In a solution for injection, this substance is contained in a dose of 100 mg in each ampoule (in 1 ml - 50 mg), and in one tablet it can be either 20 or 50 mg.

Additionally, the solid form of Picamilon contains calcium stearate, corn starch and potatoes, sodium carbonate, talc, and sucrose. In ampoules, sterile water and hydrochloric acid are added to the active substance.

The main ingredient of all forms of Picamilon is nicotinoyl-GABA in the form of sodium salt of N-nicotinoyl-gamma-aminobutyric acid (or aminobutyric) acid.

Operating principle

Picamilon is referred to as nootropics, since the active substance of this drug affects both blood circulation and metabolic processes in the brain. Such effects normalize the functional state of the CNS and have a positive effect on microcirculation in the nerve tissues. Picamilon application helps:

Injectable form is used in rare cases when taking pills is not possible. The solution is injected either into muscle tissue or into a vein (mixed with saline, drip).

Overdose

If you give the child Picamilon at a higher dose, it will increase the risk of side effects or strengthen them.

Interaction with other drugs

The drug is often prescribed in combination with other nootropics and drugs affecting the central nervous system, for example, given in combination with Phenibut, Glycine or Piracetam.
