Rest in Feodosia: where to stay and what to visit with children?
Among the resorts of Crimea Theodosius often called not the most "childish" place for recreation, because there are good beaches and there are places where adults can walk, but kids can be bored, there is not enough infrastructure. However, you can also find positive opinions about holidays with children in this 70,000 city, so you shouldn’t immediately criticize local conditions, perhaps this is the vacation option that your child will remember for life.
Special features
Rest in the Crimea attracts many potential tourists because the southern coast of this peninsula, which is the main tourist area, is characterized by a subtropical climate. A very important remark should be made here: Feodosia does not belong to the subtropical climate zone, to get to the subtropics, you need to travel several dozen kilometers to the south-west. The climate at this resort is rightly considered transitional between the moderate steppe, resembling the similar conditions of most of the coast of the Krasnodar Territory, and actually subtropical.
Nevertheless, this has its advantages, for example, in the summer peak (July-August) there is not such a sweltering heat here, as in the same Yalta. A small average annual rainfall and low humidity make it easier to tolerate high temperatures and give a greater number of sunny days per year than many other resorts of the Crimea. The season here lasts from about the end of May to the beginning of September.
And although there are really few amazing rides and other children's entertainment here, many vacationers with children choose Theodosius, explaining this for a number of reasons.
- First of all, here the seabed descends very hollow, that is, for tens of meters from the coast, kids can still easily frolic in the water, and parents have no reason to worry.
- The shallow depth of coastal waters contributes to the fact that they are well warmed by sunlight. In addition, storms and other disturbances in the water are not typical for these places.
- The sea water is clean - local authorities ensure that various wastes of any origin are not dumped into the sea. Especially pure water is considered not in Theodosia itself, but in its immediate vicinity.
However, it should be said that with a large accumulation of people from the bottom a sandy suspension rises, and after rare storms an increased amount of algae is observed.
- Almost all over Crimea beaches are rather narrow. However, due to the fact that Feodosia does not limit the mountains and the descent to the sea is rather gentle, here the beaches are wide enough to accommodate a significant number of holidaymakers and give children space for active games.
- The city itself is also suitable for holidays - it is quiet here, the locals are polite and friendly. Meals will be relatively inexpensive due to the fact that the main tourist "magnets" are still a little apart. Feodosia and its surroundings are well suited for hiking, which can be an additional plus for relaxing with teenagers.
Where to stay?
If you are only interested in the best hotels, then it makes no sense to go to Feodosia - the resort infrastructure at the highest level is really not to be found here. Even your own swimming pool at the hotel or children's animation is a luxury, for which you will have to go further, towards Yalta, and there is simply no such service in the vicinity of Feodosia. And although there are rooms offered to customers at a price of more than 10 thousand rubles per night, you should think ten times before booking them: they probably are not worth so much.
The majority of visitors prefer to stay in middle-class hotels for several thousand rubles per room. Strangely enough, it will be much cheaper to settle in the center of Feodosia than on the outskirts, and the conditions, as a rule, are better in the center of the city. On the outskirts, mostly private resorts are usually presented, which consider their main advantage to be remoteness from the city, privacy of the atmosphere and direct access to the first line. At the same time, some such institutions look literally semi-legal squatters.
Therefore, it is better to focus on boarding houses in the city center, especially on the state. They can be booked in advance (however, be prepared that there are plenty of such people), or you can agree on the spot. In the latter case, the conditions will resemble the Soviet ones, but, on the other hand, rest can cost several hundred rubles per person per day. For children, you can choose one or another children's sanatorium, for example, the famous “Wave”, but they cannot live there with their parents.
In general, private housing is also considered a good option, conditions here may not be outstanding, but this option will turn out to be extremely budgetary. Announcements about the delivery of such housing hang here literally on every pillar.
What to visit?
As for the interesting things for children, there are really very few of them - many yards are not even equipped with elementary playgrounds. With kids, it remains to walk only in the city itself, which is distinguished by the remnants of ancient architecture in the historic center, and picturesque surroundings. At the same time, experienced travelers warn that for walks with babies it is worth taking a stroller with you, because the substantial intersection of the local relief is very conducive to the quick fatigue of small legs.
All children's entertainment lies in the typical beach infrastructure, which for people living very far from the sea, may also seem like a real paradise. This, first of all, is about typical beach rides such as trampolines and inflatable slides, from which you can roll into small pools. An alternative may be skating on a banana.
In short, if the family already has experience in relaxing at various seaside resorts, and the child is unlikely to rejoice at the banal felting on the beach, Theodosia will most likely be somewhat disappointed with the kid. True, everything is relatively close in the Crimea, because those who really lack the infrastructure can get a bus to Koktebel - there is at least a dolphinarium and a full-fledged water park. This trip will take about half an hour in one direction, buses in this direction run regularly.
Tips and tricks
With all the weakness of the local children's infrastructure, numerous reviews indicate that many parents still bring their children here to rest. Studying their impressions of the holiday, you can make a small list of recommendations that will help to better organize the fees.
- Theodosius is still not in the subtropics, because there can be sudden and rather sharp cold snaps when the weather cannot be called hot even in summer. Windproof light jacket here can be useful in any month.
- Due to the international sanctions imposed after the annexation of the Crimea to Of Russia, there may be problems with cash withdrawals at an ATM, and even if the money is withdrawn, the commission can be shocking.
In stores, it is also far from always possible to pay with a card, so it is worth stocking up with a certain amount of cash.
- Visitors from the northern regions are surprised and frightened by the number and size of local insects. Here there are poisonous centipedes, and spiders, although not poisonous (according to local ones), scare by their size, reaching several centimeters. It is clear that such a spectacle of a child can lead to indescribable horror, therefore it is necessary to stock up in advance with powerful insect repellents.
- In all other respects, it is necessary to assemble as usual, not forgetting to take along a well-equipped first-aid kit so that, in which case, not to look for a round-the-clock pharmacy in a small town.
- For the smallest, it is useful to take with you baby food of the usual kind in case there is no such food.
