Bronchipret syrup is a light brown liquid with a pleasant aroma of thyme. Usually this medicine is clear, but during storage it may form a small sediment, which is considered the norm. One bottle can contain both 50 ml of syrup and 100 ml of medicine. The bottle is equipped with a metering device (allows you to measure drops) and supplemented with a measuring cup.

In addition to the syrup, this drug is also released in drops. They are also represented by vials of 50 and 100 ml, are liquid with the smell of thyme and a light brown shade, but have a higher concentration of active ingredients.

Composition

Bronchipret syrup has a vegetable base, including:

  1. Thyme herb in the form of a liquid extract. This component is contained in an amount of 15 grams per 100 grams of the drug.
  2. Ivy leaves, also represented by liquid extract. The content of this ingredient in 100 grams of syrup is 1.5 grams.

Such plant extracts are supplemented with ethanol (it takes 7% of the total volume of the drug), maltitol syrup, citric acid, purified water and potassium sorbate.

Operating principle

The main action of Bronchipret syrup is expectorant. Its vegetable ingredients are:

  • Lower the viscosity of mucus.
  • They have a bronchodilator effect.
  • Reduce the severity of inflammation.
  • Accelerate the excretion of sputum from the respiratory tract.

Indications

The reason to appoint Bronchipret in syrup are both acute and various chronic pathologies of the respiratory tract, in which there is a cough and a viscous sputum is formed. The drug is especially in demand for bronchitis and tracheitis.

At what age is it allowed to take?

Bronchipret syrup can be given to children from 3 months of age. but in the treatment of small children, a preliminary consultation with a physician is desirable. If the child is 6 years old, Bronchipret can be given in drops.

Contraindications

Shake the syrup and give the child to drink after meals three times a day, undiluted, after which the drug should preferably be taken with water. The dosage of the drug for children at one time can be determined in different ways:

  • Calculate by age. For babies of the first year of life older than 3 months, the medicine is given in a dose of 10 to 16 drops.In order to determine the number of drops for a child of 1 year and older, 3 drops for each year of life are added to 17 drops. For example, a child at 3 years old will be given a dosage of 17 + 6 = 23 drops.
  • Calculate by weight. For children up to one year old, the dosage will be the same as calculated by age. To determine the number of drops, a child over 1 year old needs to add 10 drops to the number of drops corresponding to the weight of the baby in kilograms. For example, a child weighs 14 kilograms, then he needs 10 + 14 = 24 drops per dose. In addition, in the annotation to Bronchipret there is a table on the average dosages in accordance with the body weight of a small patient.
  • Measured with the cup supplied in the package.. Children up to one year old measure 1.1 ml of the drug, a child of 1-2 years old - 2.2 ml of syrup, a child of 2-6 years old - 3.2 ml of medication, and at the age of 6-12 years old - 4.3 ml of Bronchipret per reception . If the child is 12 years old, the syrup is collected in a glass to the mark of 5.4 ml.

Overdose

If you give a child a Bronchipret in a dose that is higher than recommended, liquid stools, vomiting, or abdominal pain may occur.

Interaction with other drugs

The drug is not recommended to be combined with antitussive medicines, as well as with drugs that block the production of sputum. Such combinations can worsen the child's condition. Bronchipret does not affect the treatment with antibiotics.
