Singlelon for children: instructions for use

In the treatment of allergic rhinitis and bronchial asthma, hormonal drugs are often used, but they have their drawbacks, so lately many doctors prefer to replace them with modern means without hormones. One of these drugs is "Singlon".

The drug is manufactured by the well-known company Gedeon Richter only in solid form. The main component of the "Singleton" is called montelukast. Chewable tablets with an oval convex shape, cherry flavor and a pale yellow color are prescribed to the youngest patients aged 2-5. On one side of this medicine, you can see the engraving "R13".

The dosage of montelukast in these tablets is 4 mg. Auxiliary components are aspartame, cherry flavoring, giproloza, mannitol, magnesium stearate, MCC, yellow dye and croscarmellose sodium. They are sold for 28 pieces in a pack, packed in blisters of seven pieces.

Children 6-14 years old are discharged "Singlon", containing 5 mg of active substance in one tablet. This medicine is also chewed and has a sweet cherry flavor, but it is distinguished by a round shape and engraving “R14” on one side of the preparation. Auxiliary ingredients of these tablets are the same as that of the "Single" with a dosage of 4 mg.

In one pack sold from 14 to 56 tablets. One blister holds 7 pieces.

Another form of release of "Single" are tablets in the shell. They are intended for adolescents over 15 years old and adult patients, as they contain 10 mg of Montelukast.

The preparation itself is round and yellow in color. On one side of the tablet you can see the engraving "R15". Among the inactive ingredients of this form of “Single” are MCC, lactose, hyprolosis and other substances. Tablets are sold in blisters of 7 pieces. One pack contains 4 blisters.

Montelukast present in Singlon is able to act on special receptors called cystienyl-leukotriene. Due to the binding to them, the drug prevents the action of strong inflammatory mediators (cystienyl-leukotrienes), which are released during allergic rhinitis and bronchial asthma. It is these mediators that cause the appearance of bronchospasm, puffiness, cough, heavy discharge from the nose, and other symptoms that montelukast helps to get rid of. At the same time, the other important receptors in the respiratory tract “Singlon” does not act.

The main reason to appoint "Singlon" child is bronchial asthma. The drug is used for the treatment of the disease (in this case, it is prescribed for a long period), and to prevent attacks.

In addition, the pills are also in demand for rhinitis, due to an allergic reaction. "Singleton" is assigned to relieve attacks of rhinitis day and night, as well as to prevent them. The drug showed itself well with year-round disease, and with seasonal form.

"Singleton" is not prescribed for hypersensitivity to any component of the drug. Chewable tablets are also contraindicated for phenylketonuria.

During treatment with Singleton, negative side effects may occur, for example, allergies to tablet components such as itchy skin or rash, nosebleeds, loose stools, dizziness, swelling, rapid fatigue, and so on.

"Singleton" is taken once a day in the dose that suits the child by age:

• in 2-5 years - 4 mg;
• in 6-14 years - 5 mg;
• 15 years and older - 10 mg.

All forms of "Single" sold by prescription. The price of 14 chewable tablets with a dosage of 4 mg is approximately 450-500 rubles. The cost of 28 tablets "Singlon" with different amounts of active ingredient varies from 800 to 950 rubles.

The shelf life of both forms of the drug is 2 years from the date of manufacture. Before it expires, tablets should be stored at temperatures below +25 degrees in a place where a small child cannot reach them.

"Singlon" is often chosen as an analogue to the expensive "Singular", Although most parents consider its price to be quite high too. As for efficiency, in the reviews "Singlon" is often called effective. Other advantages of the medication include its non-hormonal structure, ease of administration (1 time per day) and the pleasant taste of chewable tablets.

However, sometimes you can see negative reviews about this drug, in which they complain about the lack of effect or adverse reaction.
