"Nazik" for children: instructions for use

Content

Vasoconstrictor drugs are in high demand in the season of acute respiratory viral infections and colds, as they quickly eliminate nasal congestion and reduce the amount of discharge in the common cold. One of these drugs is the German drug "Nazik", which included a second active ingredient added to the vasoconstrictor component, which helps to reduce the inflammatory process and restore the mucous membrane.

For the youngest patients, they release “Nazik for Children”, also called “Nazik Kids”. This medicine is intended for the treatment of children aged from two to six years. If the child is already 6 years old, he is prescribed a drug for adults, which is simply called “Nazik”. Both medications are in demand in the practice of ENT doctors and have proven themselves in the treatment of various types of rhinitis.

Dosage Forms and Composition

Both types of "Nazika" are presented only in the form of a nasal spray. This is a clear liquid without any shade, poured into glass bottles of 10 ml. This volume of solution holds approximately 100 doses of spray. For dispensing the drug in the box there is a separately packaged pump device, which is placed on the bottle at the beginning of treatment.

The only difference between children's medicine and the usual "Nazik" is the amount of one of the active substances. We are talking about xylometazoline, which in the form of hydrochloride is contained in the "Nazika for children" in the amount of 0.05 mg per dose, and each dose of the drug for adults contains it in the amount of 0.1 mg.

The second active ingredient is dexpanthenol. Its content in both types of medication is the same - 5 mg in 1 dose. The auxiliary components in Nazic Kids and the more concentrated spray are also the same. These include potassium and sodium dihydrogen phosphate, as well as purified water and benzalkonium chloride.

Operating principle

Xylometazoline present in Nasik exerts a local effect on the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, in particular, it affects the adrenergic receptors, as a result of which the vessels narrow. Due to this effect, the nasal passages become passable for air, and breathing through the nose is restored. The effect of such a substance appears only a few minutes after spraying and lasts up to 8-10 hours.

The second active ingredient of the spray, dexpanthenol, is a derivative of one of the B vitamins (pantothenic acid), into which it is converted by ingestion. This compound is important for different metabolic processes and helps speed up the regeneration of mucosal and skin cells.

Indications

Both types of "Nazika" are used for such diseases:

  • ARI, if the disease occurs with rhinitis;
  • sinusitis or another variant of sinusitis;
  • rhinitis, which originated in response to allergens;
  • otitis media (drug added to the treatment complex).

Spray can also be used before rhinoscopy to facilitate the procedure. In addition, he is discharged to patients who have undergone surgery or some kind of medical manipulation in the nasal cavity in order to restore nasal breathing faster.

Contraindications

    Nasik for Children is not prescribed if a patient has been diagnosed with glaucoma, tachycardia, porphyria, or hyperthyroidism. This medicine is contraindicated in atrophic and dry rhinitis. In addition, the spray is not used for hypersensitivity to any of its components.

    It should also not be used in children who have undergone surgery on the lining of the brain, and in diabetes or pheochromocytoma, the doctor should monitor the treatment. The same contraindications are noted for the use of "Nazik" in children over 6 years old.

    Side effects

    During treatment with the spray, local negative symptoms may appear, such as tingling or burning sensations in the nose, increased nasal discharge, swelling of the mucous membrane or redness. Typically, this side effect occurs when excessively frequent use, or when “Nazik” is used longer than the period recommended by the doctor. In addition, an allergic reaction to the spray may occur.

    In rare cases, the drug causes insomnia, visual impairment, tachycardia, headache, and other common symptoms. When they occur, you should stop using "Nazik" and consult with your doctor.

    How to use?

    After opening the medicine box, dispense the dosing device from the package, remove the lid from the vial containing the solution, screw the pump on the neck, then remove the cap from the device and press it several times to spray the spray in the air. After that, you can apply "Nazik" as intended. The bottle should be held vertically during spraying.

    According to the instructions for use, a child of 2–6 years old is assigned “Nazik Kids”, one injection in each nostril, a patient over six years old - “Nazik” for adults in the same single dose. During use, you should ask your baby to take a light breath with his nose. The frequency of spraying the drug per day - 3 or 4 times, and the duration of treatment depends on the evidence and must be determined by the doctor.

    Most often, a children's spray is used for 5-7 days, and a more concentrated solution is sprayed for 3-5 days.

    Overdose

    If you use the medication in too large a dose, or accidentally drink the contents of the bottle, you may experience nausea, fever, cramps, high blood pressure, vomiting, arrhythmias and other dangerous symptoms.

    In such a situation, emergency medical care is needed, and in order for this not to happen, it is important to keep “Nasik” in a safe place hidden from children.

    Drug interaction

    Treatment with Nasik cannot be combined with the use of other vasoconstrictor drugs. Such a drug is also incompatible with tricyclic antidepressants and agents that inhibit monoamine oxidase. With the simultaneous appointment with them or within two weeks after the termination of their use, a negative impact on the cardiovascular system is possible.

    Terms of sale

    Although “Nazik for Children”, like the spray for adults, is referred to as over-the-counter medication, it is better to consult a doctor before using such medicines in children of any age. The average price of any of the drugs is 130-150 rubles.

    Storage features

    The shelf life of a sealed spray is 3 years, but after the first use it is reduced to 12 weeks from the date of opening the bottle. During this time, the medicine should be in a dry place at room temperature.

    Reviews

    The use of "Nasik" in the treatment of rhinitis as a symptom of diseases of the nasopharynx in children respond mostly positively. Among the advantages of such a spray mention fast action, convenient packaging and affordable price. According to parents, the drug is tolerated normally, but in some young patients it still provokes undesirable side effects.

    Analogs

    If necessary, replace the "Nazik" with the same medicine, you can use the drug "Sept.Nazal", which produces the company KRKA. This tool is almost complete analogue of "Nazika", as represented by nasal sprays with two different dosages containing the same active ingredients.

    “SeptaNazal” is prescribed for rhinitis, sinusitis and otitis media, it acts in the same way as “Nasik”, and contraindications, age restrictions and possible negative effects of these drugs are identical. In addition to another manufacturer, SeptaNazal differs only in its higher cost (you need to pay about 180-190 rubles per spray bottle) and the absence of benzalkonium chloride in the composition (because of this, the shelf life of the sealed preparation is 2 years).

    In addition, instead of "Nazika", the doctor may prescribe another vasoconstrictor medicine based on xylometazoline, as well as drops or sprays with a different composition, for example, "Xylene", "Vibrocil", "Rinofluimucil", "Nazol Bebi", "Oxyfrin", Otrivin or Nazivin. Some of them can be used even in infants, others are contraindicated for babies of the first years of life, therefore, such an analogue should be chosen only with a doctor.
