Baby born with teeth
For most babies, the first teeth "hatch" at the age of six to eight months, but occasionally there are situations when a newborn is born already with one or a few teeth, or the first one erupts in a baby in the first month of life. What is the reason for this, why can they have a newly born child and what are they doing in this situation?
Kinds
The teeth found in the newborn are called natal, and those teeth that are cut in the baby during the first 30 days after birth are called neonatal. As a rule, their structure is defective, so they are less durable and faster wear. Among them are:
- Complete. So called the most common baby teeth of the child, which appeared in his mouth ahead of time. They are more susceptible to diseases and fall out faster (often up to 4 years).
- Spare or supplementary. These are additionally formed teeth during the intrauterine development, represented by the second row of milk teeth. They can fall in the first months of the baby's life.
Note that in girls, the appearance of natal or neonatal teeth is observed more often than in male babies. At the same time, in 95% of cases of childbirth with them, complete teeth are present in him, and only 5% of babies have spare ones found. In most cases, this refers to milk incisors.
The most common causes
The exact reasons why the baby can be born with teeth, have not yet been identified, but doctors suggest the influence of such factors:
- Excessive amounts of calcium or vitamin D in the diet of the expectant mother during the period when the fetus contains the rudiments of the teeth.
- Genetic predisposition. This factor, like excess calcium, is one of the most significant.
- The use of certain drugs in the treatment of pregnant women.
- Changes in hormonal levels in the body of a woman during gestation, as well as endocrine diseases of a pregnant woman.
- Ecological situation.
What to do?
The teeth that appear in the mouth of a newborn tend to cause discomfort both for the child (they often injure the bridle) and for the mother (the baby bites the nipples during feeding). Determine what to do with them, should the dentist after inspecting the crumbs and conducting radiographic research. But because of the difficulties of breastfeeding, the risk of injury to the bridle and underdevelopment, they are often advised to be removed.
However, if the teeth are complete, many dentists recommend leaving them, since their removal will lead to a situation where the child will not have them until the time of eruption is permanent. This can adversely affect the formation of the jaws, and the proper development of bite. Baby teeth can shift and cause the appearance of curved molars. Removal is recommended only in cases where they stagger or break to form a sharp edge.
If they are spare, they should be removed, since such a presence in the mouth can interfere with the eruption of the child’s full-fledged milk teeth. In addition, in many cases, such small in size and rather weak teeth fall out themselves, representing a danger to the life of the crumbs, because they can suddenly get into the respiratory tract of the baby.
After removal, the dentist will regularly inspect the toddler, in order to follow the eruption of normal milk teeth and changing them to permanent ones. As a rule, babies born with teeth after the appearance of molars are no different from those whose teeth began to be cut in half a year or later.
People sign
In the people, the birth of a child with teeth is often considered a sign of good health and a happy comfortable life. Rumor calls the "toothed" babies strong personalities who will be able to stand up for themselves.
However, there is another opinion that promises poor health to a child born with teeth. According to this, the baby’s strength “went away” into his teeth.
Each person determines whether to believe in signs, but, according to doctors, the health of children is more affected by the presence of teeth, and a balanced diet, clean air and love of parents.
